Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp believes his star forward Mohamed Salah should be considered for top player awards in English football.
The Egypt international continued his impressive form when he scored during Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Newcastle United in an English Premier League (EPL) match at the Anfield Stadium on Saturday.
Kevin De Bruyne, who has been outstanding for EPL log leaders, Manchester City this season, is a strong favourite in the running for both the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) and Football Writers’ Player of the Year awards.
“Of course. Him and Kevin De Bruyne are playing different positions so it depends what you want,” Klopp said on Sport 24.
“There is no doubt that Kevin De Bruyne is playing a nice season but there is no doubt that Mo Salah is playing a really good one as well. That’s how it is.”
Klopp feels that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino and Manchester City playmaker David Silva have all done well this season.
“And it is not just them, there are a few more players people would mention. Harry Kane is not too bad, Roberto Firmino not too bad, David Silva had a few weeks when he couldn’t play for personal reasons but he is playing an excellent season,” the German tactician added.
“There are a few good players this season and, for sure, I forget a few as well.”
Salah, 25, has impressively hit the back of the net 32 times from 38 games in all competitions. The winger is also the joint-top scorer of the English Premier League alongside Harry Kane (24 goals).
